Team ATV World Yamaha came away with convincing results at this weekend's round six of the 2008 ACU British MMX Quad Championship. With John Mitchell back on form, he took overall joint first and Paul Holmes put in another consistent result finishing a fantastic third overall.

With good weather, the Dean Moor track looked well prepared and ready for qualifying. John Mitchell qualified in third place and Paul Holmes took sixth. Race one was initially red flagged after a crash blocked the track. On the restart, John took the holeshot and began to create a gap between first and second place. Paul Holmes was in fifth after the start but very quickly moved into second place with an excellent display of quick cornering and tidy riding. Half way through, he came off his quad and rejoined in fourth place. Quickly catching up, Holmes then passed Tordoff and made his way up to Winrow. As Holmes and Winrow battled for position, Tordoff passed Holmes only to be retaken on the last lap. Meanwhile, John won the race about 40 seconds ahead.

Race two started with a much dustier track as the sun continued to shine down on the Cumbrian track. John got boxed in at the start and was riding in 12th from the first lap. Aware that he had a lot to do, he began putting in some superb lap times, taking the fastest lap, a clear two seconds faster than anybody else! Holmes was second off the start and had an excellent first few laps, even passing Winrow at one stage to take the lead. Unfortunately Holmes was suffering from hand blisters and couldn't hold the lead. He was passed by Winrow and then Tordoff. Holmes managed to then retake Tordoff, only to see John Mitchell fly past them both! John had worked his way from 12th place to an incredible second place finish!

John finished joint first overall and said afterwards "I'm feeling race fit again after my sickness at Hawkstone. I'm pleased with my performance here and now aim to finish the season in the top three. My ATV World Yamaha YFZ450 was set-up perfectly and the weather and track conditions were just right."

Other great results for ATV World at this weekends racing include Christian Morris, who won in the youth 250 class. Dean Thompson won the first race in the Adult Pro Supports by over 20 seconds! He was leading second race when three laps from end, he landed heavy spraining his wrist but still managed to hold second place winning overall on day.

Paul Holmes also maintained his superb lead at the top of the IOPD British Pro Class Championships by taking a fourth place and a first place at a very wet round six on 6th July. Riding at the Doncaster, Paul showed utter dominance when, in race two he stalled his Yamaha YFZ450 and had to pass every single rider before finishing in first place! An amazing achievement!

Meanwhile ATV World Enduro Rider Martin Bembow took another victory in the Welsh Quad Championships, extending his lead at the top of the table. Next round of the 2008 ACU British MMX Quad Championship takes place at Blaxhall Pits on the 20th July - Hope to see you there!
