ACU British MMX Quad Championships 2008 - Duns, Scotland

John Mitchell rides into 2nd.

Paul Holmes leads the Under 21s

John Mitchell took an overall second place at the penultimate round of the 2008 MMX British Quad Championships this weekend as Team ATV World Yamaha travelled to Duns, Scotland. With Paul Winrow having already secured the championship, John still had all to play for as he battled with fellow team mate Paul Holmes and Ricky Tordoff for second position.

Race One - Started well for John Mitchell on his ATV World Yamaha YFZ450. The front four riders were closely packed together as John rode to third place with just a second's gap between them! Paul Holmes had a fantastic start, going round the first corner neck and neck with Paul Winrow. He held onto third position until stalling. He got back to race pace and finished well in fifth place.

Race Two - Conditions changed as heavy rain fell on the track making very slippy conditions. John made third place from the start but spun and fell back. Determined to take some good points this weekend he worked hard and got back to third place. Leon Beda was in front and had been on top form all weekend but then spun, allowing John to take second place. Paul Holmes didn't get a good start and with such difficult conditions, rode steady to bag the points and take 11th place, seventh overall on the day.

Paul Holmes now leads the Under 21 British Championships with a 23 point lead! Now there is just one round left and Paul is aiming to retain the title for another year.

100cc Geared Class - ATV World E.ATVs Dominate Duns Jack Straughan took command of ATV World's E.ATV 85 for the weekend and absolutely dominated both races with an awesome display of skill and handling, proving the E.ATV 85 to be at the top level for any dedicated young rider. ATV World had also supplied another two E.ATV's to Frazer McFadden who finished an excellent second overall and Murray Graham who finished a superb third place overall. Once again proving that the E.ATV is the fastest under 100cc quad, ATV World has ever seen!

200cc Standard Class - Morris Magic Extends Championship Lead ATV World sponsored rider Christian Morris extended his lead in the British Youth Championship with a thrilling overall win on his ATV World Yamaha YFM250R. Having finished in second place in race one, Christian took the lead in race two and never looked back. He finished an incredible 1 min 30 seconds ahead of the chasing pack.
