Do you consider yourself to be an accomplished amateur mechanic? Do your friends come to you with questions about working on their own bikes, and is your garage a haven for mechanical wizardry? If so, you probably have several racks of t-handles hanging off the side of your tool box, right? What? NO t-handles? Okay, then it’s time we set you on the true path to a mechanic’s Nirvana.
If you have all day to work on your bikes, plain old combo wrenches and a ratcheting socket driver will suit you just fine. But, if you have plans to actually get out and ride that bike you’re working on, then anything that decreases your time wrenching is a good thing. T-handles are your ticket. By using a t-handle you can quickly loosen a fastener then use the t-handle to spin it quickly all the way out. The same goes for reassembly. No tedious ratcheting back and forth, or repositioning a wrench 3 times per turn. Just pure, unencumbered speed.
Motion Pro makes t-handles of all types: long, short, hex sockets, Allens, Phillips heads, even folding t-handles for use on the trail…you name it, we have it, in both metric and fractional sizes too! We also have a broad range of square drive t-handles to fit every need, with our newest version being the Spinner T-Handle reviewed elsewhere in this newsletter. Additional offerings include a t-handle rack and mounting accessories so that your t-handles are always ready to go.
One of the coolest things I ever saw was the Factory Ducati World Superbike team disassembling one of their race bikes. Armed only with ¼” and 3/8” Motion Pro square drive t-handles and a rack full of sockets, two technicians removed a used engine and installed a new one in under 45 minutes. It was amazing. From right off the track to ready to head back into battle in 45 minutes. Those guys are my heroes.
Be like the pros and check some t-handles out. Once you experience the speed and convenience for yourself, you will see why the best mechanics in the world wouldn’t be caught dead without one.
