FMF/RPM/KTM Earns Bronze at X Games

Bykerk Earns Bronze
Canada-native Chantelle Bykerk recently earned support of FMF/RPM/KTM Racing Team Maxxis this season, and has taken on the Endurocross series head on. Bykerk earned her spot at X Games by qualifying at round one in Las Vegas in May, along with Louise Forsley. After finishing 2nd place at her first ever GNCC behind Maria Forsberg last weekend in Snowshoe, West Virginia, Bykerk came into X Games with confidence; ready to battle her way to the podium. In practice, Bykerk was able to get through the obstacles with minimal mistakes and set herself up in timed-practice for a comfortable gate pick. Although gate pick wouldn't play a huge role in this race, Bykerk was 5th into the first turn, and 2nd coming out of the rock turn. Chasing Nicole Madsen who was in first, Bykerk went for the pass in the firewood but lost her balance, where Maria Forsberg attempted to pass them both. Forsberg slipped, leaving the door wide open for Louis Forsley to advance.
Through the next few laps the Maria and Louise battled for first place and put a gap on the field. Charging to catch the two, Bykerk cushioned herself comfortably in 3rd ahead of the remaining girls. Coming into the final obstacle, the Matrix, Bykerk hurried herself and the bike across the last log, into the last turn and across the finish line. Officially taking the Bronze medal behind Maria Forsberg and Louise Forsley. "It was one of the most exciting races and experiences in my life. I can not wait until the next X Games in 2013! Huge thanks to KTM Canada and RTR Performancefor their support."
"We are so happy and proud to have Chantelle apart of our program. She really put her head down and gave them (Maria & Louise), a run for their money. Chantelle proved she is a top contender and we will only go up from here," stated Mike Hurlbert.
Looking to defend her 2011 medal, Kacy Martinez had a promising day in practice and took to the gate for the Main with Gold in mind. Coming down the ramp, Martinez was off to a great start, but the first turn would mix things up as she became caught behind a row of girls struggling to get over the giant log. Rushing to catch up to the leaders, Martinez struggled to gain position and ran out of time to reach her end goal. "My race didn't go as I had hoped. I got a good start, but got stuck behind some girls right off the bat. I ended up fifth. I am really just happy to be apart of X Games and come out injury free. Now I will be getting back to my moto program to defend my WORCS championship in the last three remaining rounds!" said Martinez.
Next up for the ladies, Chantelle Bykerk will be heading back to her home country to race the Canadian National Off Road Races. And Kacy Martinez will be heading to Pala Raceway July 14th for the next stop on the WORCS circuit
Prochnau and Ramirez Represent the Team Well
Representing riders for the team in the Men's Enduro X class were Bobby Prochnau and
Ivan Ramirez, who put in countless laps of endurocross practice in the weeks leading up to the X Games Enduro X event. The bikes were mint and ready for competition thanks to Brady of Durt Werx, our crew, KTM Canada and RTR Performance.
Competing against some of the best Endurocross racers in the world, both Prochnau and Ramirez put their skills to the test, but moved into the LCQ as they did not finish in the top 2 transfer spots in their Heat races. In the LCQ, Prochnau came out of the rock turn in 3rd behind Destry Abbott and Kendall Norman. Norman who was in the lead, was on the move, but Prochnau began to turn up the heat on Abbott. Norman crashed, and Abbott moved up. Prochnau now in second, waited for any mistake Abbott could make to capitalize. Abbott eventually crashed and Prochnau moved into the lead with just one lap to go. On the last lap, Prochnau tumbled in the firewood section, losing time and position. Rookstool, Abbott and Haaker rushed by just in time for the checkers, forcing Prochnau to sit just two spots shy of the transfer position.
"Watching Bobby (Prochnau) battle with Abbott, Rookstool and Haaker was so exciting for me. He is so talented!" Mike Hurlbert exclaimed. "Prochnau and Ramirez put on such a great show and gave the team excellent representation at X Games. I can't wait to see what Ontario brings us." Hurlbert went on to say.
