TO: All Interested Parties

The Air Resources Board (ARB) invites you to participate in a public workshop to discuss the owner usage survey and emissions testing elements of our assessment of off- highway motorcycles (OHMC). The goal of the assessment is to better understand how exhaust and evaporative emissions from OHMCs, in particular red-sticker vehicles, can be reduced. As part of this assessment, California State University, Sacramento will conduct an on-line owner survey to gather information on vehicle characteristics, usage, and activity. Information from the survey will help with determining the number and types of vehicles to be tested. The emissions test plan will describe the methodology and details of the exhaust and evaporative emissions testing to be performed. Draft copies of the owner usage survey questionnaire and emissions test plan will be posted on ARB’s website on February 21, 2014. The owner usage survey, emissions test plan, and an update on the timing of the red sticker OHMC assessment will be discussed at the workshop.

The workshop will consist of a one hour presentation by staff, followed by a question and answer session. After the workshop, a laboratory tour will be offered to participants that wish to visit ARB’s Haagen-Smit Laboratory motorcycle evaporative and exhaust emission test cells.

The energy challenge facing California is real. Every Californian needs to take immediate action to reduce energy consumption. For a list of simple ways you can reduce demand and cut your energy costs, see our website:
