Team Green Takes Home 26 Bears at Mammoth MotocrossJul 1, 2014
Irvine, Calif. (July 1, 2014) – After a successful two days of mini racing at Monster Energy Mammoth Motocross where Monster Energy Kawasaki Team Green collected 19 big bear trophies and seven AMA championships, Team Green continued into the weekend on top of the podium. Dubbed the “Bear Hunters”, Team Green won an additional seven AMA championships to end to week with Chris Alldredge and Mitchell Harrison leading the way with two championships each.
Following a rainy practice day on Thursday, racing resumed with the Open classes on Friday. Alldredge put on a show for the crowd as he battled back and forth for the lead in the Open Pro-Sport class, ultimately coming out on top in the final followed by Zac Commans in fifth place on the KX™450F. The Schoolboy 2 class was stacked with all the top B riders, but it was Mark Worth who fought to the front of the field leading a Kawasaki podium sweep. Worth led Harrison and Rookie White on the KX™250F and Tristan Miller rounded out the top five in his first major national returning from injury.
Saturday was 250 Day and Team Green once again led the way in both the A and B classes. Alldredge had to settle for second in 250 Pro after coming through the pack followed by Darian Sanayei in third and Commans again in fifth. Harrison put his KX™ on top of the podium to win his first big bear of the week and championship in the 250 B class. Worth was the man to beat after his win on Friday, but a crash in his division race left him with a laceration that would end his day leaving the door open for Harrison to shine. Topping off the day was Sean Collier who dominated the Two-Stroke Challenge on a 2003 KX™500.
A week and a half of racing came to a close on Sunday at Mammoth Motocross and again it was familiar green bikes out front. Harrison grabbed his fifth holeshot of the week and laid down lap times that could not be matched on his way to his second championship and another big bear for the 250 Open B/C class. As Harrison was celebrating on the podium, the gate dropped for the 450 Pro class and Alldredge was up in the mix. After taking a rock to the hand from the leader, Alldredge made a quick pass coming down the downhill and checked out from there.
With a collection of 26 bears, along with 14 AMA No.1 plates, Team Green will head back to Irvine, California and begin to prep for the largest race of the year, the AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship at Loretta Lynn’s, which kicks off July 27th from Hurricane Mills, Tennessee. Team Green ruled the hills and berms of the West and is confident to see the same success in the rutted loam of the East.
