MP coolant recovery tank hose pops off

I have a MP coolant recovery tank. On the inlet side from the radiator, the nipple is 4mm long with no barb to hold on the hose. The overflow nipple is almost 3/4in. with a large barb to hold the hose on. Can someone tell me why the side the the most pressure and more important job of controlling flow of the coolant back and forth from the radiator has no barb and is only 4 mm long. The clamps that are supplied do nothing to hold the hose on the inlet. It has popped off twice and I have only ridden twice with it. I am writing this because. I the hose popped off during a race and my bike pucked out all the coolant. I paid over $30 for a little plastic bottle and a 50 cent hose. The least it could do is stay on the bottle. I am a mechanic and this seems a pretty common sense engineering mess up. Somone please answer this.

The best solutions

Hello Jim D, I am sorry that you are having a problem with the coolant bottle. You can set it up so that you will not have problems. The key to proper assembly is to cut the hose completely square, and clean the bottle and hose with isopropyl alcohol prior to assembly. Position the hose clamp so that it is not extending past the end of the inlet, and make sure that the hose has enough slack so it is not being pulled. This will ensure that the hose will be properly connected.

This problem has been solved.
