Common Question three years ago

I think I have a problem with my Two Stroke Leak Down Tester, it won't hold pressure. If I put my thumb over the end of the hose, and try to pump it up, I can't get any pressure.

The best solutions

All of our diagnostic tools are tested 100% here before shipment. Just blocking the end of the hose to test the function of the tool is not the proper method. The Two Stroke Leak Down Tester needs a small, sealed volume to function properly. Use a small mason jar or something similar and seal a hose fitting to the cap. Connect the tester to the jar, and pump it up to 5-6 psi. The pressure should hold steady over a 5 minute period. If there is a pressure drop, use a soapy water solution to spray on the various joints to detect where the leak is.

This problem has been solved.
