Common Question three years ago

I was using my Syncpro and now the fluid is all stuck up in the tubes. The instructions say to shake it down like a thermometer, but that doesn't work at all. Can you help me with this?

It sounds like some fluid was lost from the tool, and if that happens, it will not return all the way when not in use. The reason for this is the air space between the calibration screw and the top of the fluid in the reservoir is increased when fluid is lost, and causes this problem. If you look at the air gap between the calibration screw and the fluid in each chamber on your tool, you will probably see differences from one channel to the next. If the tool is in proper condition, all the air gaps should be the same level, and be between 6-8mm. If the fluid level is extremely low in the chambers, the tubes will draw both air and fluid, causing the long gaps you are experiencing.

There are two critical steps that must be performed each time you use the tool, first to back out all the calibration screws counter clockwise before starting the calibration process, and also calibrating the unit properly EVERY time it is used, even if it is one the same vehicle. Proper calibration means making sure the unit is calibrated to the master carburetor, as calibrating it to an adjustable carb or throttle body will result in incorrect calibration. Also, it is important to avoid closing the throttle too quickly if you are raising the idle to check your adjustments, because rapid closure of the throttle will easily exceed the vacuum limit of the tool.

If the air gaps are different in the chambers, or exceed 8mm, the tool will need to be refilled. If this is the case, There is a refill kit, part number 08-0415 available.

This problem has been solved.
