Multi Valve Tool
When it comes time to do a valve job on a motorcycle engine, it can be one of the most dreaded jobs in the service shop. Not only do many engines need to be removed from the chassis of a motorcycle, juggling the cylinder head with a valve spring compressor and then having to manipulate the keepers with tweezers or a magnet tool can be a serious pain, and waste valuable technician time. In addition, the new generation MX four strokes require much more cylinder head maintenance on a shorter schedule, so if your shop works on these newer MX bikes, your technicians are involved in these kind of jobs much more frequently.
Motion Pro has a unique and simple tool that can significantly reduce the time it takes to replace or service the valves in a four stroke cylinder head. Called the Multi Valve Tool, it is an amazingly simple tool that eliminates the need for bulky and awkward valve spring compressors in the majority of cylinder head service jobs.
The process is very simple. Once the cylinder head has been removed and cleaned, it is placed on a clean shop towel on a work bench with the combustion chamber down and the valve stems facing up. Using a deep well socket or similar tool, a quick tap with a hammer will knock the keepers loose from the valve assembly. Then the springs, retainers, valves and seals can be removed from the head. Once the valve job is completed, or the valves replaced, the valves, springs, retainers and keepers are loosely assembled, and the Multi Valve Tool is used to compress the spring and set the keepers in one smooth motion. A job on a four valve single cylinder MX head can take 45 minutes or more with a valve spring compressor, compared with less than 5 minutes for the Multi Valve Tool. Consider having to service a 16 valve four cylinder sport bike head, and think about how much time your shop will save!
The Multi Valve Tool is available in two different sizes, one for valve stems with a 5mm or smaller diameter, and a large tool for valves with stems over 5.5mm. The only limitation to the tool is valve spring seat pressures, and how strong your tech is!
