HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. (Feb. 15, 2015) – AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys, was host to round seven of the 2015 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship. 54,931 fans were in attendance and the entire event was broadcast live on Fox Sports Two.
Justin Barcia continues to recover from a cracked pelvis suffered prior to the San Diego round and was not racing in Dallas. He is expected to be out at least two weeks, possibly longer depending on the direction of his doctors. Phillip Nicoletti is substituting for Barcia while he recuperates.
Weston Peick, who was injured at the Phoenix round of the series returned to racing in Dallas. Peick looked up to form in just the first race back. He transferred directly to the main event earning a second place in heat race two. Nicoletti earned a gate in the main through semi two. Unfortunately Peick encountered trouble as soon as the main event began crashing hard heading into the first turn. During the carnage he twisted his knee and was unable to continue. Nicoletti began the main in the top-10, holding down 10th position for over half of the race ultimately being relegated to 13th at the checkers. It was his best finish of 2015 improving last week’s performance by one position. The team does not expect Peick to miss any upcoming races due to the crash in Dallas.
The series continues its trek eastward with round eight being hosted in Atlanta, Ga. at the Georgia Dome on Feb. 21. Fox Sports One will broadcast the action live starting at 7:00 p.m. (EST). Supercrosslive.com will stream qualifying practice beginning at 12:50 p.m. (EST).
