HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. (May 31, 2015) – Round three of the 2015 Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship took place at Thunder Valley Raceway in Lakewood, Colo. The first motos aired live on MAVTV, and the second motos were broadcast on the NBC Sports Network. All of the concluded races are archived onPromotocross.com and can be viewed on demand free.
At the start of moto one Phil Nicoletti was fourth, Justin Barcia 11th, and Weston Peick 38th after suffering two mishaps on the opening lap. Peick went to work passing half the field by the end of the race earning a hard fought 19th, Barcia was seventh and Nicoletti ninth.
When the gate fell for moto two Barcia just missed taking the holeshot rounding turn one in second place with Nicoletti just behind him, Peick did not get the start he had hoped for starting mid-pack. On lap six Barcia briefly fell finding himself in ninth. By this time Peick had advanced to 12th, and Nicoletti was fifth. When the checkers flew it was Barcia back up to sixth, Peick had moved all the way from 20th to eighth, and Nicoletti was just behind Peick in ninth. Barcia was scored sixth overall, Nicoletti ninth on the day, and Peick 13th. All three riders are in the top-10 in series points after three rounds. Barcia is currently fifth, Peick sixth, and Nicoletti ninth.
Round four of the 12-race series will be held at Muddy Creek in Blountville, Tenn. June 6. The first moto will air live starting at 12:00 p.m. (EST) on MAVTV, and the second moto will broadcast live on NBC at 2:00 p.m
