Great Start for Motion Pro Supported RPM Racing Rider Cody Webb

Lynden, WA (March 8, 2015)--  FMF/RPM/KTM Racing Team Maxxis’s Cody Webb topped the podium at the opening round of the 2015 Geico AMA EnduroCross Championship held at the Ocean Center in Daytona, Florida, giving RPM Racing Team their first EnduroCross Men’s Pro win. Webb’s teammates Bobby Prochnau, Ty Tremaine, and Rachel Gutish all made solid showings as well.

Webb started out the day strong on his KTM 300 XC two-stroke by posting the fastest time in day qualifying. In the night show, Cody took the qualifying heat win and was 2nd fastest time in the hot laps. In the main event, Webb got cut off in the start and came around the first corner in 8th.   He gained ground in and out of the second turn and made some aggressive passes through the matrix charging up to 3rd behind Mike Brown.  He pushed into first after Brown crashed and commanded the lead for most of the race despite a crash in the Matrix and another after the finish line log obstacle.  He battled with Kyle Redmond and Colton Haaker, but eventually put an impressive distance on the pack finishing the race 13 seconds ahead of Haaker.

“The start of the series went just as I had hoped with a victory. I struggled on the track like most of the other riders, it was tricky to find a rhythm in the deep Florida sand” said Webb. “The new team and my KTM worked awesome. I sprinted the first few laps and made plenty of mistakes. Luckily I charged hard enough to get a big lead and cruise out to the finish.”

“We have had riders in every AMA EnduroCross since the beginning and have made the (men’s) podium a few times, and have had the Women’s Championship, but this is our first men’s Pro win.  It's what we have been working for and my wife Sharie and I couldn’t be a happier” Said Mike Hurlbert, RPM Racing Team Owner.  “Cody Webb is one heck of a rider. We are looking forward to a great season with him and the rest of our dynamic team”

RPM Racing Team’s Bobby Prochnau also had a good showing at Daytona. He transferred to main in 3rd place out of his heat race and went on to finish 7th in the main event. His teammate, Ty Tremaine, who is currently leading the FIM World SuperEnduro Junior Championship, also showed impressive speed during the day, posting the 6th fastest time in day qualifying, but he struggled in the main event after losing a contact on lap three. He rode on and finished 11th.

In the women’s class RPM Racing’s Rachel Gutish had some shining moments. At one point in the main event she was running in third before a crash cost her a few positions. She finished in 5th place.
