Houston, TX (July 1, 2015) – Aprilia HSBK once again claimed pole position and landed on the podium both races at Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, Utah. The extreme heat and higher altitude posed new challenges at this round. Once again, the Aprilia RSV4 proved itself and its reliability as it performed flawlessly in the inclement conditions. Aprilia HSBK Rider Sheridan Morias was prepared for weather and commented that, “it is just like Johannesburg (South Africa),” his hometown.
Morais and the team have found a good rhythm and once again used the first session to learn the track and the second to dial in the bike. By the third practice session, Morais was getting more comfortable on the track and put down times that qualified him to go straight to SuperPole 2. In SuperPole 2, Morais claimed pole position qualifying in front of not only his SuperStock competitors, but top SuperBike contenders as well.
Morais had strong lap times going into race 1, but lacked the setup to sustain his fastest times. He battled throughout the race and earned a third and a trip to the podium. The team made several adjustments before race two and Morais was able to finish in second place. The team was pleased with the trips to the podium, but continues their hunt for the win. Teammate Devon McDonough finished the weekend with a 9th and 10th in class. The team looks forward to the next round at Laguna Seca. Laguna will be the first round that Morais is familiar with the track allowing him to turn up the intensity earlier in the weekend.
