Not the normal Motion Pro I'm used to
I'll start by saying I have somewhere around a dozen or so MP tools, and they are all fantastic. Not so much with this truing stand.
First, the indicator rod holder uses a finger knob to clamp the indicator rod in place. The problem is that you cannot make it tight enough with your fingers to lock it in place. Even using a pair of channel locks doesn't get it very tight using a reasonable amount of force.
Next, the centering cones are not big enough to handle wheels from single sided swingarms - the alignment cones fully pass through the hole in the wheel center. I bought this stand along with a set of irons and rim protectors to save me the $35 per wheel mount and balance fee at the bike shop. Unless I get custom alignment cones made, I will still be paying $20 to have the rear tire balanced, not to mention the hassle of going to the bike shop. Somewhat defeats the purpose of buying the truing stand. Motion pro should consider making the cones large enough or supplying adapters for wheel with large center holes.
Overall, the quality of the stand is the usual great MP quality. This would be a five star review if the cones were larger and the truing indicator was easy to secure.
